Amie Walter

African_Woven_Arts.jpgAmie Walter started bringing African tribal textiles back from her trips to East Africa in 2005. The bold, complex designs and natural fibers appeal to many people and look good in all kinds of interiors. For a time Amie had a shop on Canal Street in the Exner Block in Bellows Falls. She added baskets, cotton print and Maasai jewelry to the mix a couple of years ago. She has also worked with banks and small companies to bring texture and vividness into the workplace through authentic textiles. 5% of all sales goes back to Africa though a fund for projects. Previous donations went toward school fees for two african youngsters, ranger fees in Nairobi National Park and the humane Society in Karen, Kenya. Currently Amie is saving to provide a well in rural Kenya.
